ARTIFICIAL EDEN - ALEX CHIEN
Alex Chien presents Artificial Eden, a body of work rooted in a sustained engagement with the natural world and its quiet transformations. Drawing from organic forms and atmospheres, the work reflects on the subtle, often imperceptible ways in which environments are shaped through human presence. A restrained tension unfolds between the natural and the constructed. Familiar landscapes appear composed, gently altered, or held in a state of suspension, where intervention is neither fully visible nor entirely concealed. This ambiguity invites a reconsideration of what is perceived as natural. Deeply informed by an enduring sensitivity to nature itself, Chien approaches it as both subject and material. The resulting works occupy a space where cultivation and artifice converge, and where distinctions between the organic and the designed remain deliberately unresolved.
